Hunter Rung

|
Hey Claude,
This is Hunter Rung.
I'm out here in Montana for school. I'll stop in when I come back -- and you always let me shoot all the bows in your shop. Thank you for that. You've taught me a lot.
Here are some pictures from my first hunting season out here. The doe I killed with a longbow I made myself and the elk with a Montana longbow.
I'll be home around christmas and you can bet that I'll make my way up to the shop.
Sincerely,
Hunter |

Way to go Terry! |

Corey Sutter
"Outstanding Success of the Season"
Hey guys, Corey Sutter here...
Time and Place: Late in the afternoon just before 5 o'clock on Halloween. The shot was made from a ladder stand in Valencia, PA - 4 miles south of Allegheny Archers.
I want to thank all the guys at Allegheny Archers for their endless advice. You guys put on an awesome bow building class and run a great Archery shop. If it wasn't for the selfbow building class my Dad and I took, I doubt I would have gotten
so addicted to Traditional Archery.
The hunt went as so; I spent all morning in the stand and saw only four small doe. After lunch I returned to the stand, but before climbing up I trimmed out a better shooting lane that the doe had come through in the morning. But this time my dad had joined me in the woods and was stalking on the ground near-by. All of a sudden this buck appeared from the
ravine. It was trotting directly for my freshly cut window. Through the thick foliage I could not make out weather he was legal. I already had my Osage self bow drawn on him as he entered my shooting lane; in that brief instant I had made the fourth point on the right beam and let the arrow fly. With the help of my Dad, we recovered him the following morning. With great penetration from the selfbow I made at Allegheny Archers and the custom cedar arrows Claude made, he managed to travel just 200 feet to a nearby thicket.
Thanks to Chris, Claude, and my Dad for one of the greatest hunting experiences that I will ever have.

Dylan Sloniger

Dylan's Buck
Claude and Chris,
Dylan couldn't be more happy with his new Ancient Spirits recurve. He practices a lot these days and it shows when he takes to the woods.
I dropped Dylan in his stand about 4:30 on Wed. 10/29. I climbed a tree about 80 yards away. He was back at my stand at 6:00. He had already recovered this buck and was anxious to get it out of the woods. He called him in with 2 grunts followed by a snort wheeze, shot him at 10 yards, with a 30-yard recovery.
Dylan was of course using his Ancient Spirit recurve, 52@28, 2114 arrow with a 125 gr Magnus buzzcut head.
Thanks for making Dylan feel at home when he visits you guys to shoot and hang out when I always seem to be at work. He really enjoys his time at your shop. Tom Sloniger |

Ted Kinney

I shot this Washington County Buck on Tuesday (10/21). Another notch on the riser of the old reliable Bighorn.
The 125 gr. Magnus purchased from Allegheny Archers flew 17 yards and right through his blood pumper. I released the arrow at 6:41 and this fella didn't make it to 6:42. Had I bought those broadheads from any of your competitors, I'm quite certain it would
have been a gut shot. My SINCERE thank you.

Here is the doe, I killed last Saturday (10/17). Ole' School Asbell Bighorn - custom built for my dad around 1989 and given to me as a high school graduation present in 1994 - yep it still works.
Arrow: 2018. Broadhead: 125 gr Magnus purchased at Allegheny Archers. About a 15-yard shot - and boy oh boy is she tasty. |

Hey there Claude...
Here is the bear photo. I know it wasn't the big
one, but it felt just as great to bag him with the long bow.
I
can't thank you enough for helping me do something that I thought was unrealistic for me.
Thank you,

Opening day and everything fell into place. A nice doe walked within 16 yards of my stand. I had a confident shot and hit dead in the spot just behind the shoulder.
43# Caribow with a 550 grain arrow tipped with a 125 grain Magnus.
100 yards in 10 seconds was the best she could do.
Chris and Claude, Thanks for all your help with getting me started in traditional archery. I never thought it would happen so quickly.

Here's Corey Sutter with his spring gobbler.
Along with dad Paul (above), Corey learned the art of crafting a selfbow from an Osage stave.
He is working hard over the summer to hone his skills with the primitive bow and will be ready for October. Nice Turkey, Corey! |
